And It Starts...

I'm speaking of the Christmas music.

It's not even Thanksgiving yet, and three of my pre-set radio stations are already playing it non-stop. The only stations that aren't are a random country station and the local classic rock station that plays nothing but AC/DC and Aerosmith all day. Well those, and all fifty of the horrible rap stations played here. I guess you lose street-cred if you start playing songs about "peace on earth".

You can't get away from the Christmas music. You walk into the grocery store and there it is. You walk into a restaurant, and there it is. You walk into a store at the mall, AND THERE IT FREAKING IS (albeit in some sad, techno remix form). Seriously, how many times can one person listen to Jingle Bells before becoming homicidal? And people wonder why the most domestic abuse happens during the holiday season - "Alice, I swear if you play Silent Night one more time.. Bam! Straight to the moon!"

Don't get me wrong, I have my favorite Christmas albums by Alabama, Martina McBride, Bing Crosby, and Dean Martin, but I generally like to listen to them (at the earliest) one week before Christmas - not two weeks before Thanksgiving. At least let me get to December for goodness sake...

Note to Self: Santa baby, come and trim my Christmas tree with some decorations bought at Tiffany's... OR ELSE!

Seriously, Christmas or Halloween decoration arrive earier and earier every year which annoy me quickly.

I love Holiday season and everything that comes with, but I want to enjoy those time, not forcefully given the idea in my face. No wonder why time flies so fast like you said.

I still remember when I was little, I used to think, "Is Christmas here yet?" - now, it's here even before we know or want it.

I love the holidays, but I totally agree - the early carols are overkill. I have more than enough stress without having the malls and radio stations and doctors' offices reminding me that yet another big event is coming up!

Seriously. There should be no music, decorations etc for a holiday until the prior holiday is over. The day after Thanksgiving is soon enough and December 1st would be better.

I've been making my xmas stock for the past 6 weeks, it kinda takes the shine off the holidays.
But in an effort to tackle christmas related anger and frustration I going to do 80% of my shopping online this year. No queueing, no nasty mall music, and I get to wear my pj's while I do it.

OK, I absolutely LOVE Christmas music and could listen to it all day, but that said, I know enough to avoid it like the plague til at least December arrives.

Otherwise I'll fry my brains out.

Feliz Navidad. It is already spinning through my head. The greatest Christmas tune ever.

I love it. I can't get enough of it. I admit it; I'm a Christmas junkie. I'm not ashamed!

Christmas music is all over the place here too. I'm with the majority, I wish stations and stores would at least wait until after Thanksgiving before breaking out all of the Christmas "stuff."

Gaaa. It's my pet peeve. Christmas should simply not start before Thanksgiving. I don't mind Christmas music but I only want it for a limited time!!

December 1st is soon enough. A Kmart here had it playing the week before Halloween. ugh!

I have to take exception to Evyl's choice in holiday tunes. Obviously the best tune is Dominic the Donkey. LOL. I do actually like it - it's cute and hasn't (yet) been too overplayed around here.

Oops. But yeah, I agree with you that it is too early. I already posted my scrooge post about it though so I feel a little better now.
