Note to God:

God,

Are there parts of the Bible that you just think, "MAN, I wish they would stop bringing that up!" or, "That damn monk in the ninth century copied that down all wrong..."?

Just wondering.

Amen.

Wrong, no. But my eyelids droop when I read long lists of who begat whom. I'm sure there's a reason those lists are in there, but I have a hard time reading through them.

I don't think that God wishes parts of Scripture weren't in there, but I have often wondered if when Jesus said something he turned around and thought, "where did THAT come from??"

I can almost picture God banging his fists, screaming, "No, no, no, you got it ALL wrong. This isn't even CLOSE to how it was supposed to be. Arrrgh."

Excellent points to ponder.

LOL - I am the one who always asks this in my adult bible study. My pastor rolls his eyes whenever he sees me and says, "oh, Yay, Michele's here!" I mean, come on, there are sooo many versions of the Good Book out there, who's to say which is the right one? I think as long as we get the big picture, we're doing all right. But some of that stuff...gah!

Have you read The Shack? It is an interesting perspective on who God is and what He wants us to know...you should check it out if you haven't already. I love how the image of God is portrayed as an older Aunt Jamima type black woman. Too Funny!
