Crappy Music

OK....

I am so tired of this crappy music that is spewing out of the radio these days. Seriously, who listen to this no-talent musical vomit? Whatever happened to bands actually playing their own music and writing their own songs and... you know... being real musicians.

It's like record execs are hanging out in the middle of a pretty-boy convention and thinking "hmm... how would he look holding a guitar? And it doesn't matter if his voice sucks or he can't sing to the beat, because we can fix that with a computer..."

I'm sitting here watching the top20 on Vh1, and I'm seriously ready to throw something heavy at my tv screen. Apparently, popular music these days consist of about 50 bands that sound just like Nickelback (ie. crappycrapcrap) or girls trying to be jazzy or emo kids trying to sing.

*sigh* My poor iPod is super lonely these days. Any recommendations?

Note to Self: Hmm.... maybe this should have been a Note to Idiots...

Oh - I totally get it! I keep thinking music needs to go back to the singer/songwriter days...like Joni Mitchell. I'm so tired of stupid lyrics with the same beat throughout and totally produced...lame-o! The music industry needs some reinventing.

Hi MJ,

All that artistic music crap started to die by Disco, and Rap gave it the death blow. Fortunately, there was plenty of GOOD music recorded before those artistic diseases came along to keep one going. Heck, Jethro Tull alone cut enough original tracks to stay fresh for years of listening.

I spend most of my time listening to music I liked in high school. lol I rarely listen to the radio or watch MTV.

I'm with the SITS Welcome Wagon, and I've come by to say hi! I've been with SITS since the beginning. I've read so many fun blogs and met so many amazing women through this supportive community. It's a great place on the Internet! Welcome SITSta!

The stuff I like rarely makes radio appearances these days, sadly. I've downloaded a pile of music from my younger years, though I have found some good music watching "So You Think You Can Dance." If you haven't already, you might want to try Imogene Heap (formerly of FrouFrou). It's got an electronic, computer-y remix sound to some of it, but she's got a beautiful voice, and she does most of, well, everything on the album on her own.

And this is EXACTLY why I do not listen to the radio any more! Well, this and the fact that you have to listen to the same craptastic songs about 20 times a day.

Coming over from SITS!! Hello and Welcome!!

Alison - I agree!

The Grit - This is true. My entire iPod is filled with tunes from the late 70's early 80's.

Rhea - Yeah, I have some stuff that I listened to in highschool, but to be honest, I had really bad taste then... I'm more into 80's rock now... Thanks for stopping by!

Danielle - Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely do that.

Aubrey - Thanks for stopping by! Yeah, I sometimes like one really good popular song, but you have to listen to the same songs over and over and over before they will finally play the one I like...

I have to say, when you're in a funky mood, you gotta check out Brazilian Girls (from their self Titled cd).
Pretty eclectic, imaginative and certainly not 'scripted' like these radio guys today!

just remember what that evil Mickey Mouse put the Jonas Brothers through. It's not all the musicians fault. In the words of Mickey: I own you ha he.

Right now I cannot get enough of Maroon 5 - recently caught their concert on TV with them, and I was impressed with how well they sounded without all the frills.

Plus Adam Lavine is hot.

Death to studio-aided productions - that means you too Britney.

(Welcome to SiTS!! I like your style, I'll be sticking around - Em)
