Red, Blue, Pink, and Yellow

I’m exhausted this morning – the cop and I had our engagement picture session yesterday, and we were totally zapped by the end of it. Apparently even when it’s cloudy and rainy, the sun can take a lot out of you. I even have a mild sunburn.

Then we went out and had a good ol’ time with his squad at a local pub, throwing down car bombs until midnight and gabbing about the latest arrests – while I sat there trying to remember all the signals and 10 codes…

Anywho, I thought I would stop in and post those pictures of the trees that I promised.

These are some of the ones in the cop’s yard – there are five of them in all, and they are some of the tallest in the city.

Now just imagine thousands of these trees blooming all at once!

And the mess that they make when the flowers fall. (This picture is a very minor look at what the mess will be in a few more days.) Sorry, these aren’t great pictures – it was just around dusk, and I didn’t have quite enough light.

Luckily we’ve had some rain in the past 24 hours, and it has washed the majority of the pollen from these trees into nice puddles of bright yellow. So hopefully, my sinuses will have a reprieve from the stuff for a few days.

Y’all have a good weekend!

Note to Self: Yeah, you think they’re pretty, but when these things come out, I always have the urge to leave town for a few weeks until the blooms are all gone.

Nice pics, but I agree with the sentiment of wanting to leave town until they are over...pollen! and tourists! ARG!

At first glance, the trees look like they're covered in frost... It does look pretty from a distance, and if you ignore the fact that you'll have to sweep/rake/blow it all away, the falling petals are really fun to play in.

I too thought by the first glance it was a winter time picture of a tree... Ok, you find them somewhat a pain - I still find them beautiful. Pine trees, however, with all those cones and spruce needle falling everywhere..pffff... :o)

CM - Not as many tourists this year, but definitely a lot of pollen.

Danielle - True. You should see those petals after they've been on the ground for a while... they turn a muddy brown color. Ick.

Monica - It does look like it might be snow in the trees. Yep, we have tons of pine trees too. I woke up this morning to my poor car covered in those little pine seed things on my car and a film of yellow-green slime. Yuck.

I remember those days. I also remember those nasty things called "lovebugs". When do they come out? Is that spring or fall? I can recall when carwashes would advertise the best treatment to get smeared lovebug off your car. That is one thing I don't miss about Georgia! :o)

I hate the pollen but I missed those blooms when I lived away from Georgia. The wife and I saw Driving Miss Daisy while in exile in Virginia and it made us both so homesick we could hardly stand it.
