A Pair of Scissors and a Smile

I just have to tell you about this woman I know.

She knows enough about me to blackmail me for millions if I had it, and she would have great fodder for news crews should I ever become famous. She has had a hand in shaping me into the person I am today, and she's the best advice giver I know.

My hairdresser.

I've known her since I was about twelve years old. She gave me my very first blond highlight and layered look. She is the only person I have ever trusted to touch my hair these past eleven years, and as long as I am within a days drive, I will continue to go to her.

I have grown up knowing every gritty detail about her life and family, and she has heard every little thing about my daily life. We have discussed everything - spats with my mother during my teenage years, dates and breakups, more dates and nasty breakups, fights with friends, spiritual matters, setting up my mom on dates, even sex now that I'm old enough to discuss such things - no subject is off limits.

She has been a great friend to me - scheduling a wedding for my friend when she had said she would no longer do them and then agreeing to work mine too, squeezing me into her already crazy schedule every time I call, giving me free product every Christmas, keeping me updated on all my friends that go to her too, filling me in on the latest town gossip, sharing her life experiences and advice with me, and being a great ear to listen and a heart to reach out. She was even one of the first people I told about my engagement.

I can't imagine there's anyone else out there like her.

Note to Self: Plus, who wants to piss of a woman with a sharp pair of scissors?

I go to my lady on Friday.....and I agree - she could bring me down with one announcement of exactly how much gray she covers....she is awesome...one time she messed up...refused to let me walk out - and fixed me...right there, even though it put her way behind schedule...that my friends...is someone who won't lie to you...

You are lucky. I am "cheating" on my regular stylist tomorrow at 11 a.m. I feel so guilty and excited at the same time!

Must be something in the air - youngest dd and I just got back from our sylist. Nothing beats a great stylist. Of course the flip side is nothing is worse than a terrible one.

There is nothing better (or scarier) than a hairdresser who knows all of your secrets! I can't wait until I can find one here...

ahh yay my haircut lady is also my best friend. even though i only go once a year, the fact that she is there, remembers the stories visit to visit, and shares in the fight to control ( or as she says" work with") my hair, is a sense of comfort! yay for them!

Rachel - I hate the thought of having to look for another stylist ever in the future.

Sarah Jane - That's how mine is - total perfectionist. i can never leave without a perfect coif.

Debbie - Oh my! How exciting!

CM - I'm glad I sent you too! I know she really likes you a lot.

CW - Isn't that the truth. FDH goes to some cheap place, and I just can't stand the 50% chance of him looking like he lost a fight to a blender.

KM - But men tend to be the best stylists!

Danielle - Colby and I can give you a great referral :)

JMPJL - Thanks, but it's not mine. It fits well though, doesn't it? Thanks for stopping by!

SM - Wow, only once a year? My hair would be out of control if I only went once a year...
