Waking Up, Working Out

Have I told you that I got a gym membership? I think I talked about it on my wedding blog, but not over here.

Well I did, and I've been kicking my own ass for the last two months at least three times a week. No real weight loss yet, but I've gotten back all that muscle definition I had when I was a dancer and improved my flexibility. I can definitely feel the difference in the fit of my clothes too - y'know, they don't cut off my circulation anymore. And I don't run out of breath going up a flight of stairs. That's kind of a nice plus.

I haven't been brave enough yet to venture into getting a personal trainer. I've seen some of the female trainers, and they look more like large man-women with a fetish for torture than someone who would motivate me. Although I guess I would do the workout if I were afraid he-she would "punish" me if I didn't. Ack.

Gyms can be really intimidating, I have to say, but the one I found is nice because everyone is out of shape. Yeah, sure, every now and then we get that one guy who walks in who's all ripped, but he usually comes in, lifts a few weights, and leaves. I always wonder if he ever does a cardio workout. Wouldn't it be a shame for this big, tough, muscle-bound guy to die of a heart attack or high cholesterol?

The biggest tip I have about getting yourself motivated is getting a gym buddy who can help keep you motivated. Mine is the cop. He's still working off some weight he gained when he was laid out hurt, so we're hitting the treadmill together to get in shape for our wedding.

Note to Self:
And I'm off! Two miles today, plus some weight lifting...

I have a crush on Jillian- the trainer on the biggest loser.

I dont know what that has to do with your gym membership but I thought I'd share with you anyway.

I definitely don't do the gym. I know it's the opposite from most people, but I am FAR more likely to exercise at home. This is probably because if I wait until I make myself go to the gym I never will!

Amazon trainers with a thirst for punishment.

That sounds like my kind of gym.

I love going to the gym and work out on my butt and arms. I love the feeling when you lift weights and your arms or thighs can't take the pain anymore:)

My gym is women only which is so much easier for me.

Work it sister!!!

Rachel - Oh yeah! Definitely. Especially one that will motivate you to "get your butt to the gym", but then compliment you regularly on your "lovely, luscious buns of steel." :)

Matt - Thanks! LOL. K.

CM - If I stayed home more, I probably would workout at home more. I think the gym motivator for me is that I paid for a membership lol.

BN - Yeah, it's hard to get into the routine. But once you've been doing it for a few weeks, it feels strange to not go.

PE - It would be :D

Maki - I know, I love that feeling! I love stretching too - hurts so good!
