No, that's not a spelling error.
Yes, I'm going to talk about it.
The ad (Hat tip: Gateway Pundit). I admit the ad is controversial enough to make me not drink Absolut if it weren't for the fact that I wasn't buying it anyways. As a marketing pro (okay, not really pro, but I'm working on it), one of the first things we have to consider is how your largest group of consumers will respond to an ad. So, I know the ad was targeted at Mexicans, but Mexico is not their largest consumer group. A tip for you guys over in Scandinavia, do not target a few consumers at the expense of many. Not a good idea.
So now there is a rather large call in America for the boycott of Absolut and their other products. Just check out what you get when you Google "Absolut boycott."
I think FrankJ over at IMAO has it right when he says: "Absolut has decided to discontinue their Reconquista ad. Then again, I was never that scared that a bunch of vodka fueled Mexicans were going to take over half of the continental United States."
So switch to Grey Goose, have a good laugh at some Photoshops of the ad (Hat tip: SondraK), and move on.
